About Orange County Court Records

Court records in Orange County, North Carolina are split across the statewide Judicial Branch, the Orange County Clerk of Superior Court, the Sheriff, the Register of Deeds, NCDMV, and other agencies. This private reference site organizes those public access routes so visitors can identify the right office, portal, address, and phone number before starting a records search.

Why We Built This Site

North Carolina gives the public access to many court records, but Orange County records are not all held by one office. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps Superior Court and District Court files, divorce judgments, estates, special proceedings, judgments, and court calendars. The Sheriff maintains local jail custody information. The Register of Deeds handles marriage licenses, marriage certificates, land records, and other non-court records. County administrative records use Orange County’s NextRequest portal.

The goal is to make those custody lines clear. A person looking for a criminal case file should not start with the Register of Deeds. A person looking for a marriage certificate should not start with the clerk. Orange County’s statewide court structure, local courthouse locations, and agency-specific search routes are gathered here in one county-focused reference.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any North Carolina court, Orange County office, sheriff’s office, clerk’s office, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of court documents or vital records
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, address, or office hour is current at the moment you visit

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point to the right office, but the document must come from that office.

Search Partners

Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own prices and run their own services. When a visitor uses one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, this site may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep the reference pages free to use. We do not control what those tools charge or what appears in their results.
